The growing importance of the media and the desire of the Archdiocese of Changanassery to form excellent communicators with the right attitude have resulted in the establishment of Media Village. Media Village was dedicated to the nation by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India in order to provide right media vision with a well set goal of creating a value based media culture. It is this vision that has resulted in the forming of St Joseph College of Communication, the flagship unit of Media Village.
Radio Media Village 90.8 FM licensed by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a flagship concern of St Joseph College of Communication, is the first FM Community Radio Service in Kottayam district in the state of Kerala. Its aim is to give voice to the voiceless by involving the members of the community.
Radio media village was inaugurated by union minister Sri vayalar Ravi on 10th February 2012 in the presence of Mar Joseph Perumthottam, Mar Joseph Powathil, CF Thomas MLA, Fr. Antony Ethackattu & Fr. Sebastian Punnassery at kurishummoodu. It broadcasts 24 hrs a day in FM 90.8 MHz .The signal reaches up to a radius of 15 Km. in and around SJCC campus.
It provides opportunities for students of SJCC to work and gain experience while they study. Moreover, many media students do their project works in the radio. Thus, by being in close contact with the radio, the students get a first-hand experience of conceiving, recording, editing, mixing and broadcasting a radio programme.
St Joseph College of Communication (SJCC) is the first university affiliated Media College in South India and was founded in August 2004. It is a Christian minority self-financing educational institution affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. It is the result of the creative response of the Archdiocese of Changanassery in the field of Media Studies. SJCC has completed its 19 years of dedicated service to the society in “transforming the media for a wholesome world”.

In the beginning it concentrated on faith formation, catechesis and media awareness programmes through audio visual aids and performed various cultural programmes like Ganamela, dramas, film shows.
Then it started training media professionals and transformed itself into Media Village and its flagship organisation St Joseph College of Communication in 2004. Now it has number of media-related institutions and units under the one umbrella where you can find an ideal ambience for media education, media training, media production, media broadcasting, media festivals, IT solutions and media apostolate.

It became the first FM Community Radio Service in Kottayam district, Kerala, broadcasting 24 hrs a day in FM 90.8 MHz with a signal reaching up to a radius of 15 km around the SJCC campus.
Radio Media Village started 24 hours continuous broadcasting from 2013 onwards. Dr. N. Jayarajan MLA inaugurated the 24 hours broadcasting service, expanding the reach and impact of the station significantly and setting a new milestone for community radio in Kerala.
From 2013 onwards, Radio Media Village launched a radio programme named "Thanal" (തണൽ) which grew into "Prathyasha" — a Blood and Organ Donation Forum. This initiative later paved the way for the formation of Charity World, the social service wing of RMV.
Radio Media Village organised the Changanassery Mega Fest, a unique festival to bring the entire community of Changanassery under one umbrella. This 10-day festival celebrated art, culture, science, food, and competitions, with people from all walks of life coming together in community spirit.
Charity World, the social service wing of Radio Media Village, was officially inaugurated on 12th December 2015. This charity organisation focuses on the integral development of marginalised people, including differently abled and aged people who need palliative care and community support.
Radio Media Village began organising the annual "Jeevanam" Agricultural Fest, promoting organic farming and providing a platform for the public to buy and sell organic agricultural products. This event strengthened the station's bond with the farming community and advocated sustainable living.
Radio Substations were established in villages across the region, where people came together to learn various aspects of radio broadcasting and to create radio programmes. A total of 36 substations and radio clubs are currently functioning, empowering local communities to become active voices in media.
